somewhereawesome #27: Oregon coast roadtrip to Pacific City (chapter 4)

Portland – Salem – Pacific City:

After a beautiful 2 hours drive from Portland we arrived at Pacific City on the coast! A tiny very laid back town with a beautiful long beach and nice waves. In the middle of the ocean you see the massive “second Haystack Rock” (the other one is at Cannon Beach), which is claimed to be world´s fourth largest monolith.

coasttrip-22On our right hand there was a next massive “thing”: The dune of Cape Kiwanda. From sea level we hiked a few hundred feet up and reached the “peak” of that sandy colossus with beautiful coastal trees in a bizarr sand dune landscape. Steep cliffs, sandy and rocky shores, hidden caves and breathaking ocean views – you get everything up there! After an intense photo shooting on top we jumped down the dune in no time. (I am sure that we haven´t looked any better than the other people who were trying to come down that dune somehow).

We stayed two days in Pacific City and went to great places:

Best night: The Inn at Cape Kiwanda. Room with a balcony and ocean view. (Every room has an ocean view!). 2 minutes from the beach.

Best food:  Best fish tacos and Burritos at BJ´s Burger and Tacos.

Best beer: Pelican Pub & Brewery. Order the whole beer paddle and try every beer. I even liked their IPA! But my favourite was the Doryman´s Ale.

Between the ales at the pub and the scenes along Cape Kiwanda, Pacific City is a truly unbeatable beach get away!
